Digital Services Act (DSA)

What is the DSA?

The DSA is the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2022/2065 of October 19, 2022, concerning the digital services single market and amending Directive 2000/31/EC (Digital Services Act). The primary goal of the DSA is to ensure a safe, predictable, and trustworthy online environment that fosters innovation and where the rights enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, including the principle of consumer protection, are effectively safeguarded.

The DSA specifically regulates the obligations and restrictions placed on digital service providers (so-called 'intermediary services') and sets out rules regarding their liability for content posted on their platforms.

The DSA applies across all member states of the EU.
